Ayurvedic practices for SPRING

As we transition from the cold, dark winter months to the vibrant, blossoming spring season, it is important to adjust our daily routines and practices to align with the changing energy of nature. And I don’t know about you, but I’m so thankful to be saying GOODBYE OLD MAN WINTER, it’s been dark for long enough.

Ayurveda, the ancient Indian system of medicine, offers us a wealth of wisdom and knowledge to help us navigate this transition with grace and ease. Spring is the season of renewal and rejuvenation, making it the perfect time to focus on nourishing and revitalizing our bodies. Ayurveda recommends incorporating more light, fresh foods such as leafy greens, sprouts, and seasonal fruits into our diet to help balance the heavy, stagnant qualities of winter.

Enjoying warm, nourishing soups and stews made with seasonal vegetables can also help to support digestion and boost energy levels. In addition to nourishing our bodies with the right foods, Ayurveda emphasizes the importance of getting enough sleep and rest during the spring season.

I know I know, we are all so excited to feel the sunshine, drive home with the sun still out and have a little more spunk in our steps! But rest is so important.

As the days grow longer and the sun shines brighter, it can be tempting to stay up late and push ourselves to do more. However, Ayurveda teaches us that getting enough rest is crucial for maintaining overall health and well-being.

To support a restful night's sleep, try establishing a calming bedtime routine, such as taking a warm bath, practicing gentle yoga or meditation, and avoiding screens before bed.

Self-care is another key aspect of Ayurveda that becomes especially important during the transition from winter to spring.

Taking time to pamper yourself with nourishing practices such as dry brushing, self-massage with warm oil, and herbal steam baths can help to detoxify the body and rejuvenate the mind. In addition, spending time in nature, practicing mindfulness, and engaging in activities that bring you joy and relaxation can help to nourish your soul and support overall well-being.

Here are 5 easy wellness practices you can do at home to support your health and well-being during the spring season:

1. Start your day with a warm glass of water and lemon to support digestion and detoxification. You can also do bone broth, especially if you’ve been having tummy issues or have been on medications recently.

2. Take a short walk outside each day to soak up the sun's nourishing rays and connect with nature.

3. Practice deep breathing exercises or pranayama to help calm the mind and reduce stress.

4. Incorporate gentle yoga or stretching into your daily routine to support flexibility and circulation.

5. Enjoy a warm cup of herbal tea in the evening to help relax and unwind before bed. I like to have my tea with a book. If you need any book suggestions PLEASE DM me. I can’t stop talking about these series I’ve been into lately.

By incorporating these Ayurvedic practices and tips into your daily routine, you can support your body, mind, and spirit as you transition from winter to spring. Embrace this season of renewal and rejuvenation with open arms, and let the wisdom of Ayurveda guide you on your journey to optimal health and well-being.

If you’re still here, thank you. I love having you here.
